Apps for the Library Media Center
World Book Encyclopedia App
Our county subscribes to World Book Online each year and they now have a mobile app
for it. We received the link and information to use it this past Spring. Students use
World Book Online and are very familiar with it. They like being able to create a folder to
store articles they locate. This application will be very useful to them.
Weather Apps
Weather.com offers a nice variety of weather apps. The Climate Comparison app would be useful in
Science or Social Studies classes or as a project to collect and analyze data, which supports GPS standards.
Printer App
A printer application is needed for Ipads. This one is very versatile. There are many printer apps
available, a few are free, but most have a minimul cost as compared to the convenience.
Brain Pop App
Brian Pop is very popular and is an often requested subsription program by our faculty.
The students use the version that is available
through our NetTrekker subscription. The app for
Brain Pop would be utilized by our students and a great addition to our resources for specific groups
of learners.
EBSCOhost
We have access to EBSCO databases through GALILEO. It would be very helpful to our faculty
and students to have access to their mobile platform for their databases.
Many of the existing EBSCO features are available in the mobile app, such as full text, peer-reviewed,
and citations.
